[Jackie Kay Plaza opening]Scottish poet and writer Professor Jackie Kay has officially opened a plaza named in her honour at the University of Strathclyde.
Jackie Kay is a professor of creative writing at the University of Salford and, between March 2016 to 2021, she was Scotland’s Makar, or National Poet.

[Telephone]In anticipation of the shutdown of the analogue telephone network, the University has recently moved to a new cloud-based telephone service, provided by BT.
This service has an updated tariff and there will be no charge for local, national or mobile calls made from a University land line, as these are all fully inclusive.

[Student at lecture]The End-of-Semester 1 student module evaluation window opens from Week 8 (Monday 6 November) through to the end of Exam Week 1 (Sunday 10 December).
Module leaders (Class Co-ordinator or equivalent) should ensure that they activate Module Evaluation in Myplace and select appropriate dates for their module to be included at least three days in advance (i.e. by the end of day on a Wednesday to go live on the Monday of the following week).

[Menopause event on campus]Last week, to mark Menopause Awareness Month, the University hosted a lunchtime event on campus on to ‘ignite the conversation’ around menopause in the workplace.
The event was a great success, with over 70 colleagues attending the question-and-answer style event, featuring GP and menopause specialist Dr Fiona O’Donoghue.

This study explores the side effects of this medication in a large sample of breast cancer patients, and how these side effects may influence the likelihood of not taking their medication.

[Redi Koobak]Dr Redi Koobak, Chancellor’s Fellow and Senior Lecturer in Interdisciplinary Gender Studies at Strathclyde, delivers a seminar on 'Uneasy Affinities b/n Postcolonial and Postsocialist Feminisms'.
While transnational feminist theorising and practice is deeply indebted to postcolonial feminism, it often fails to recognise postsocialist feminism as relevant cultural and political knowledge.

Maureen Robinson, one of the first women in the whisky industry to hold the prestigious title of Master Blender, is one of five people to receive an honorary degree from the University of Strathclyde.
Ms Robinson, who studied pharmacy at Strathclyde, retired last year after more than four decades in the industry.
