Hi everyone,
The Careers Service have arranged an NHS STP Information Session (Medical Physics/Clinical Engineering) specifically for Strathclyde students. It will take place on campus 2-3pm on Wednesday 24 January.
Further details and the registration link can be found on our events calendar - https://careers.strath.ac.uk/Events/View-Event/PageId/EventDetails/EventId/38486/rdtab/1234?EventStartDate=1%2f24%2f2024+14%3a00%3a00&EventEndDate=1%2f24%2f2024+15%3a00%3a00<https://careers.strath.ac.uk/Events/View-Event/PageId/EventDetails/EventId/38486/rdtab/1234?EventStartDate=1%2F24%2F2024+14%3A00%3A00&EventEndDate=1%2F24%2F2024+15%3A00%3A00>.
This session will be delivered by a Medical Physicist and will cover the following points:
* Current Training Scheme in Scotland
* Clinical Scientist Careers in the NHS
* An overview of working in Nuclear Medicine
This is a great opportunity to find out more about what is involved and to hear about the experiences of the presenter; you will have the opportunity to ask questions so this session will be of interest whether you are intending to apply now or simply keen to find out more about this career path.
The Scottish Medical Physics & Clinical Engineering Training Scheme will be recruiting candidates with a First or Second Class Honours Degree in Physical, Computing or Engineering Sciences for entry to the training scheme for Medical Physicists and Clinical Engineers. You can apply if you are in your final year/PGT/PGR, however all year groups are welcome to attend!
This session will take place in the Careers Service Seminar Room, Level 4, Jocelyn Bell-Burnell Wing | Learning and Teaching Building.
Staff at the Medical Devices Unit / Vascular Lab in the Department of Clinical Physics and Bioengineering at NHS GGC have also arranged a Glasgow Medical Physics and Engineering Open Day which will take place on Saturday 03 February at Gartnavel Hospital. The open day is aimed at anyone interested in learning more about the role that medical physics and clinical engineering plays in healthcare, but in particular those thinking about a career in those areas. Places are limited so early registration is encouraged to avoid disappointment. Further details and registration can be found via this form https://forms.office.com/e/g4484LQcY7.
It is likely that the Scottish Medical Physics and Clinical Engineering Training Scheme will hold a virtual session around the same time but I am awaiting to hear further details on this. I will share them when I know more.
