[Dame Professor Jocelyn Bell Burnell]To mark this year’s International Women’s Day, and the 60th anniversary of the conferral of our University status, renowned astrophysicist and honorary graduate of Strathclyde, Professor Dame Jocelyn Bell Burnell, will be attending a special event exploring how we can all create a truly inclusive environment for work, study and research.
Taking place in the Learning & Teaching Building – one wing of which is named in her honour – Dame Jocelyn will be joined by a number of eminent Strathclyde women with varied backgrounds, interests and expertise, in a conversation exploring themes related to the experiences of women in the workplace as well as this year’s IWD theme, ‘Inspire Inclusion’.

The new site<https://universityofstrathclyde.newsweaver.com/cvg4pnmkid/1e9e0zzg084w5sb93d38j4/external?email=true&a=5&p=64024810&t=31139368> is underpinned by a new complaints form that allows the University to gather more specific data on the type of complaints the University is dealing with. The page will be updated regularly with relevant resources that will make it easier for colleagues to log, manage, respond to and learn from complaints.

The University of Strathclyde has been placed third out of 1,411 global higher education institutions, for the percentage of its research outputs published via Open Access, in the CWTS Leiden Rankings Open Edition 2023<https://universityofstrathclyde.newsweaver.com/cvg4pnmkid/1dr6viotgv5w5sb93d38j4/external?email=true&a=5&p=64024810&t=31139333>.
Strathclyde’s position in the rankings is thanks to 91.7% of its outputs over the period of 2018-2021 being published freely which makes it the highest-ranked of the Scottish university featured.
