Dear All
Please find below a message of the president of SCOPE on the upcoming exciting opportunities to engage with the SCOT conference in April in particular and SCOPE in general.
Postdoctoral early career researchers are also very welcome to engage and help with the SCOT conference (but the bylaws do not allow formal membership of SCOPE).
Please contact Charli if you have questions or interest.
Regards
Thorsten

Subject: SCOPE Members , join the committee!
Hello,
As you've seen, SCOPE is heavily involved with the planning of the Scottish Conference in Optical Technologies (SCOT, see https://www.scotconference.org/). The SCOPE committee has taken a bit of a manpower hit recently due to various reasons, as a result of this we are currently down to 3 active committee members from our previous 8. We are looking to obtain new committee members to help out immediately with SCOPE and SCOT, with these new members having the potential to take over the SCOPE committee via AGM once SCOT is over.
New members will assist in planning SCOT, this is seriously a fantastic opportunity and I cannot emphasise enough how valuable getting involved with this can be for your CV and job opportunities! Helping us will provide you with leadership and management skills, along with direct access to company sponsors. Considering the current economic climate, the opportunity to meet your employers and make a name for yourself is vital.
This may sound like a lot of work, but it really isn't, our 3 committee members (myself, Adnan and Emma) are very experienced as we have run SCOPE successfully for a year now. We are also organising SCOT with 4 other university student chapters (Glasgow, Heriot-Watt, Dundee, St Andrews), so it is now just SCOPE doing all the heavy lifting.
If you are someone who is keen to get involved in a great society that has the influence to plan a conference with international academic speakers and companies, then send an email to me at charli.hamilton at strath.ac.uk<mailto:charli.hamilton at strath.ac.uk>!
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Charli Hamilton

SCOPE President
