[Postgrad] Race Equality Charter: Student surveys

The University is working towards a Race Equality Charter, and consultations in the form of surveys are an important part of the self-assessment process:

Strathclyde is working towards the Race Equality Charter to make our university fairer for everyone. To do that, we need to hear from you! The survey is open until the 7th of April.
The Race Equality Charter Student Survey is your chance to share your experiences and help shape real change. We know that racial inequalities exist at Strathclyde, but we need your input to understand what’s really happening and how to improve things.
Why does this matter?
📊 27% of Strath students are from Black, Asian, and minority ethnic (BAME) backgrounds, but a high non-disclosure rate (12.2%) means we don’t have the full picture.

📊 BAME undergraduate students are awarded fewer 2:1s and Firsts than White students, with the awarding gap growing to 18-19 percentage points in recent years.

📊 At postgraduate taught level, BAME students are 10 percentage points less likely to get a Merit or Distinction than their White peers.
This is why we need an up-to-date student survey that focuses on race equality, ethnicity, and how other factors like gender and disability intersect with race.
What will the survey ask?
✅ Feeling of belonging on campus
✅ Representation and visibility
✅ Barriers to support, progression, and opportunities
✅ The impact of race equality initiatives
The survey is short, anonymous, and open to all students – so you can be honest!
