[Publicengagement] Fwd: Science @ Strathclyde - 11th to 13th June

Hi all,

the faculty are proposing a Science at Strathclyde week for S2 students. While this will be small in the first years, the hope is that this builds into a bigger event, similar to the scale of events that Engineering run.

This year the event will run from 11th-13th June. Are there any preferences for which slot Physics would take? If not then I will propose that we got for the morning of the middle day, Wednesday the 12th June.

Hi all

Hope you all had a good weekend.

Previously we discussed a 3-day event ‘Science @ Strathclyde’ for S2 school pupils from Glasgow Secondary Schools to introduce them to studying science at University.  Following discussions with Glasgow City Council, regarding dates that are suitable for the schools, the 11th – 13th June have been confirmed as the visit days.

The programme for the visit will include the young people spending approx. 2 hours in each Department and the group size will be a maximum of 40 young people (accompanied by teachers).

If you could please let me know if you have a date preference (11th – 13th June) and an AM or PM preference for the visit to your Department?

If at this stage you know what activities you would carry out with the young people please include this info too but this can be provided in the coming weeks.  Also if your activities would be better suited for a smaller group (20) then please let me know and I can look into splitting the group and running two sessions for your Department activity.

If you could let me know by the 7th March if you have a date/time preference for the visits to your Department that would be much appreciated.

We will discuss the event in more detail at the Outreach Group meeting on Thursday 14th March.
