Happy New Year all,
To kick off the new semester I would like to arrange a meeting to review the very positive outreach activities that were done in 2018 and to discuss plans for the upcoming year. I would suggest Wednesday, 23rd January at 3pm in the postgrad reading room, JA8.24 - calendar invite is attached
As an update on a point that we should discuss; There was a faculty outreach meeting just before Christmas where two cross-department events were discussed, details of which are below. These events are both related to an aim of getting greater involvement with high schools and to build up towards a Science Camp.
Regards,
Griff

Hi everyone
Happy New Year! Hope you all had a good break over the holidays.
At the Outreach Group meeting prior to the Christmas break, we discussed a couple of events which we will host at the University and be inviting school pupils to attend to provide them with an introduction to studying within the Faculty of Science at Strathclyde.
St Margaret’s High School, Airdrie – event for Crest Award pupils
Date – TBC (Will take place post the school Easter holidays)
Time spent in each Department – 1 hour
Group size – approx. 12 S1 and/or S2 pupils
Science @ Strathclyde (3-day intro visits for school pupils entering S2 in June 2019)
Date – TBC following liaison with schools who will be involved but likely to be a Tuesday, Wednesday (AM only) and Thursday in late May or early June 2019
Time spent in each Department – 2 hours
Group size – approx. 20
If you could provide me with info on activities which you will carry out in your Department for each of the events for Thursday 31st January that would be much appreciated.
When dates have been confirmed for each of the events I’ll let you know and then further planning of the programme and logistics of the event will also be confirmed.
Thank you.
