Hi All,

My colleagues Edmund Harbord (Bristol), Ed Clarke (Sheffield), and I have been working to arrange a one-day workshop on UK-Japan collaboration on semiconductor, photonics, and quantum research, which will be held at the IOP in London on 10th July, the day after UK Semi. The aim of the workshop is to bring people together and produce something that would allow us, as a community, to have some influence on the shape of upcoming UK-Japan funding calls, etc. The schedule for the day will be finalised this week, and will include invited speakers covering policy, academia, and industry to speak about their experiences of working with Japan, and perhaps highlight some of the opportunities and challenges that we face going forward. Whilst we would like the workshop as "in-person" as possible, we are looking at options for a virtual component to increase participation, though this is yet to be confirmed.

I know that this is something of increasing importance to UK and ENE research, so can I ask you to please consider attending the event, and to share the invitation with your networks. Additionally, if anyone has any historic or ongoing collaborations with Japanese groups or industry, and would like to share their experience as a speaker / panellist, please let us know.
