==============================

Dear Colleagues,

The 2013 NSS, launches on Monday 28^th January and closes on Tuesday
30^th April 2013. Eligible students (final year undergraduates
identified through the HESA Student Return) will be contacted by Ipsos
MORI to complete the survey, unless they opted out earlier in the year.
The Student Survey Team will send out reminders to the cohort prior to
the launch and at intervals during the survey.

We are looking for your support in encouraging students to participate
in the survey, In order to maximise our response rates, we are asking
you to encourage your final year students to participate in the survey.
We will be regularly updated on response rates by Ipsos MORI throughout
the survey period and will forward these updates on to you so that you
know which areas require a bigger push.

You should by now have received promotional posters for the survey, with
additional materials to follow. Electronic materials are also available
on the Student Surveys SharePoint site which you can use to promote the
survey via email, plasma screens, etc. Guidance on promoting the survey
and improving response rates provided by Ipsos MORI is also available on
the site. Promotion of the survey must be done on a neutral basis, i.e.
encouraging students to give their honest opinions of their experience.
Any attempt to influence students' responses is taken very seriously by
the funding councils and could result in penalties against the institution.

As an incentive for students we are running a prize draw, facilitated by
Ipsos MORI, with prizes of one Nintendo Wii U, 2 Kindle Fires and one
£50 Amazon voucher.

It is important that as many students as possible provide their feedback
in order for the survey to generate reliable information. We need to
achieve a response rate of at least 50% at institution, course and
subject level (combined with 23 respondents per cohort) in order for our
data to be made publicly available and included in the Key Information
Sets (KIS). Last year we achieved an overall response rate of 67% and we
would like to see an even higher rate this year. Your support in
encouraging students to respond will be a critical part of this.

If you have any questions about the survey or would like any more
information, please see the official NSS website
(http://www.thestudentsurvey.com/) or contact the Student Survey Team at
student-surveys at strath.ac.uk <mailto:student-surveys at strath.ac.uk>

Kind regards,

Dr. Veena O'Halloran

Director of Student Experience & Enhancement Services
