[Academic] FW: : Info Session - Research funding and academic exchange with Germany - 24 January 10-11.30 in Edinburgh

Dear all,

A couple of our staff were able to attend the information session on research funding and academic exchange with Germany that took place in Edinburgh on Tuesday.  I have attached the slides.

Javier Porte Parera, one of our Chancellor's Fellows, has provided the following comments:

In general, it was a broad introduction to the German DAAD and DFG funding bodies and their activities. Unfortunately, there was not much more than that and no particular German-Scottish or German-UK programs in Science and Engineering were discussed in detail. I am afraid that the reason for this is the general lack of them at the moment... Nevertheless, the speakers were very open to discussion and promised to be proactive if we approach them with any questions or requests, even with ideas for proposals!

I saved the contact of Mrs. Dorothea Fendel, from international affairs of DFG. If you have any further questions or comments please tell me. I can also pass them to her if you want to.  For further info, I put in attachment the notes I took during the seminar and also the two given presentations (as Mrs. Fendel shared them with the attendants).
