[Academic] S2 exam timetable and invigilation

Dear All,

Please find attached the exam timetable for the 26 physics exams for the April-May exam diet.

I've allocated invigilators first to exam setters and checkers (where possible - some exams in highlighted colours are at the same time in a different location). Each exam has a reserve who has to be on call, but often doesn't need to actually invigilate the exam.

The remaining slots have been filled in roughly alphabetically from the staff list so we all chip in.

If any time doesn't work for you please either arrange a swap with someone, or find a replacement, and notify Jacqui so we're up to date.

Jacqui (thanks Jacqui!) will also be organising all the separate rooms and invigilation for disabled students with concurrent exams.

Please also see University policy on invigilation (attached), especially for those new to exams. FYI The regulations include the item that to proceed an exam must have a minimum of two invigilators (one Invigilator in Charge and one other) for each examination room up to a maximum of 50 students. At least one academic is required amongst the exam invigilators. One further invigilator will normally be appointed for each additional 50 students thereafter.

Best wishes,

Aidan

PS The following only applies to exam setters/lead invigilators, so anyone else can stop reading! 🙂

A reminder that exam papers are no longer delivered to exam locations.

To get them printed centrally a pdf of your final exam and also any formula sheets needs to be on the idrive 'Final Exam' folder at least 10 days before the exam, so Jacqui can upload. If it's not there it won't get printed, and please notify Jacqui when the final version is there.

The lead invigilator collects all exam papers and equation sheets from the main physics office JA831 (or directly from Jacqui in the adjacent room) at least half an hour before the exam on the day of the exam (this covers the possibility the lead invigilator becomes ill overnight - do not take exam papers off campus). Exams are starting at 10am or 2pm.

Ensure you collect all physics exams and equation sheets etc. required for your exam room, and try to get to the exam room in good time to lay out the exam papers.

For all exams which were checked by the level 3-5 External Examiners, please note there has been a request from the EEs to see a response to their reports. Please treat this as you would a 'response to the referees' of a paper, in that you list and respond to all points raised, identifying any changes that were made to your exam (or the reasoning for anything not changed). Please notify Jacqui when you have uploaded your EE response on the i-drive to the EE folder, so we can pass them on.
