Subject: Visa advice
Hi Reem,
Your enquiry about a visa for the UK has been passed to our team to respond.
If you are coming to Glasgow for 6 months or less and you will not be undertaking any paid or unpaid work, then the best (and least expensive) option is a Short Term Study visa. Find information and apply for the visa here - https://www.gov.uk/study-visit-visa
Your department should issue you a letter to support your visa application, detailing the reason for and duration of your visit. We can provide them with a template if necessary.
Please note that you will also require and ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) certificate. These take 20 working days to process, so you should factor that in when you are applying for your visa. An ATAS certificate is valid for use with a visa application for 6 months, so you can apply for it well in advance of your visa application. Apply for ATAS here - https://www.academic-technology-approval.service.gov.uk/ . Your subject is under physics in the drop-down menu. Once you click “Check” you will be able to create an account or log into an existing account and apply for an ATAS certificate.
Best wishes,
James
