Dear All

As you will be aware, Senate appoints 24 members of academic staff (who 
need not be members of Senate) to a Panel from which the 2 ordinary 
members of Ordinance 4.2 (Appointment) Committees are drawn.  
Appointments to the Panel are for three years.

Following the recent call for nominations, we currently have 14 
vacancies on this Panel.  I should therefore be grateful if you would 
consider who, within your area of influence, would be able and willing 
to serve on the Panel for the period 1 August 2012 to 31 July 2015.  The 
existing Panel membership is copied below.  Please consider who among 
your colleagues would be appropriate to nominate taking cognisance of 
the following:

·The person should be a senior member of academic staff (eligible for 
election to Senate) but need not be a current member of Senate

·We endeavour to achieve a balance of gender and ethnicity on 
appointment panels, wherever possible

·For Professorial appointments, a member of the professoriate is required.

I should be grateful if you would secure the nominee's willingness to 
serve before nominating them and let me have the names of your nominees 
by *Friday 31 August* 2012.  The membership will be forwarded to the 
September meeting of Senate for approval.
