Dear All
Please disregard, if you don't use magnetic locks for access control of
your labs, which are self-installed and not by estates services (and
outside of TIC). If you are using them, but are not on the list on p. 9,
please indicate.
You will find below a risk assessment for the use of these locks. The
background is that magnetic locks not linked into the fire alarm system
are usually considered to be unsafe in educational premises. The
attached RA justifies that it is safe nevertheless. The review was
necessary as the previous document was quite old and new labs were
commissioned and new PIs came in since then. I also suggest to change
the frequency of testing from quarterly to yearly as a) it does not seem
to be necessary and b) the old regime did not work, so it brings the
paperwork in line with the practise.
Please cross-check the RA, in particular the data on your labs on p. 9
and indicate till next Monday if you want to have changed anything.
I will come to collect signatures then next week.
Kevin, is Col 2.03 still active?
Dino, my understanding from the discussion with Gregor is that the labs
in the new annex will be complying, but the Colville labs still need to
be covered.
Mark, are you still happy with the schematics?
REgards
Thorsten
